(07/10/26) Below is a recent mini-devo I wrote, which will soon be posted as a YouTube “SHORT.”
Are You Proud to be American?
Are you proud to be an American? First, it must be said that pride is universally condemned in the Scriptures. The only One we are told to be proud of is God – the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Bible says, “Let him who boasts, boast in this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD.” So the question for the Christian is not: are we proud to be an American, but rather, are we thankful to be an American? Thankfulness to God is something we can get behind. We are to enter God’s gates with thanksgiving.
There are surely several reasons for which any sensible, American Christian can be thankful. I have spent significant time ministering in third-world nations and seeing their deep poverty, and yes, I am very grateful for the comfortable life I live in the U. S. More importantly I have a deep appreciation for the way God has used our nation to send out missionaries all over the world. But I am also alarmed at the direction of our nation. About half of our population supports sexual perversion and the slaying of unborn babies, conveniently labeling this the right to choose. Americans are much more secular than they were in the days of my youth, and the growing antisemitic attitudes and pro-communist political leanings are not a healthy sign. Am I thankful to be an American – sure. Am I deeply alarmed by the direction of our nation, you bet. Most of all, I am thankful to be safely in Christ, and I know that, for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
(06/29/26) Benedicta and I have been enjoying the world cup soccer games the last several weeks, especially when the U. S. plays. We have been having a little personal party, with snacks (low carb) and diet sodas. Ben, being from Africa loves soccer and she has made me a bit of a fan, at least when the world cup is going on!

(06/18/26) My daughter, Joy Whorton, told me a funny but neat experience she had while she listened to her 6 year-old son outside his room. He was talking to God, which in itself is pretty amazing for a six year-old. But what he said was even better. He told God, “God I trust you. God I really trust you. God, I trust you more than Google…” I’d say he’s off to a good start with God!
(06/08/26) I have been
doing a lot of writing on diabetes over the last year. Harvest House Publishers agreed to publish a new book, titled “Beat Diabetes in 6 Months,” and also asked me to update my first diabetes book: “Overcoming Runaway Blood Sugar,” which they plan to republish. You can pre-order the “Beat Diabetes in 6 Months” book by clicking on the image of the book. The book is scheduled to be available on October 6, this year.
Some may wonder why and how I ever became interested in this subject of overcoming diabetes, and how this relates to my Bible teaching ministry. The why is pretty simple – back in 2001 diabetes came rushing at me like a freight train. It was one of the scariest times of my life. But I did what I always do when under attack – I prayed. And to quote the Scripture: “He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps.” (Psalm 40:2). And when God’s showed me the answer, I had to share it, believing that Jesus sets a great model for ministry, as He went around Israel “teaching, preaching, and healing the sick.”
Needed: Friends of this ministry
We need your help! If you are blessed by the teachings, articles, devos, and missions emphasis of this ministry, please consider making a generous donation to Spirit of Grace Ministries. We are not a church; we do not receive offerings from members every Sunday. Nor would we dare ask offerings from the poor Africans to whom we minister in our overseas missions. We must depend upon tender-hearted American believers like you to help us carry on this work Christ has called us to do in feeding His sheep, equipping His servants, and proclaiming His gospel to the lost. Your donations are needed and greatly appreciated!

Audio Devo: "Why is there suffering?"
People have debated this question for millennia. And we cannot speak concerning specific individual questions of suffering, but the Bible clearly speaks as to why suffering has always been a part of the human experience.
Missions Outreach
A major part of Spirit of Grace Ministries is our ministry in the great continent of Africa. In the above video Dennis shares exciting news about a recent mission which involved our “JESUS CONFERENCE,” plus a free medical clinic, and the provision of food for local widows in Busia, Kenya.
